Overview
Mark Ferraby’s ‘Strings That Go Ping’ show demonstrates the scientific principles of strings and how they are used to create melodies. An accomplished performer Mark is also a qualified teacher and understands the wonder of learning.
Children will be fascinated by the science of strings as well as acquiring new vocabulary with multiple visual and aural clues to give them context. Pitch and duration are all familiar words to the musician but children’s vocabulary will be extended by experiencing variables such as length and diameter, taut and slack.
The Strings That Go Ping Show lasts about forty five minutes, Afterward a class can work with ukuleles to extend their knowledge with hands on tasks. Both elements ensure children deepen and broaden their knowledge of both music and science. They are an excellent learning experience for any class or year group studying sound. They also ensure children hear and see live performance.
